So I guess I should finish Part 3 of last weeks' adventure...

when we were chatting with the guide on Sunday afternoon, he told us to go to what they call the "Y" around here. We looked it up on Google Earth and our map, so we knew where we were going.
We decided to launch from Conn Brown harbor, about 7 miles south of Rockport...it's closer to the Y, and we needed some bait, so we drove down there, got our bait and launched the boat.
We headed down the ICW, which was about 13 feet deep with the low tide...Dale was staying between the channel markers, where it was the deepest, and we were making good time...when...all of a sudden....we made a quick stop at the oyster bar! No, not that kind...the kind that can tear up your boat and prop real quick!
So we tried to pole ourselves off the bar, and we got quite a way, until the last 10 feet...and of course...we got stuck...and stuck good (well, if being stuck can be good). And once again (and probably not for the last time) we both had to get out of the boat to float it just enough to push it the last 10 feet to deeper water.
In Dale's defense, once we were back in the ICW, we saw that one of the channel markers had moved...and was no longer marking the deep water...
When we were floating again, Dale also realized that we had a little less than half a tank of gas, and since we hadn't ever been on the south side of the bridge, we decided to abandon our plans and head back to South Bay, where we had fished on Sunday.
We'll go fish the Y another day, after the water comes back up a little...
We got over to South Bay without any other incidents, and headed into a spot to fish...oh, I forgot to say that the winds were about 15 mph...a little heavier winds than we usually like to fish in, but, well, we were already there, so we might as well fish, right??
We got to what looked like a good spot, and I dropped the anchor, but the boat was still moving pretty fast, and now it was dragging the anchor line through my hands pretty fast...I finally got a grip on the line, but it pulled my arm around to the side...so I braced against the only thing that was behind me...the door section of the windshield...which turned out to be a "not so good" move...because I cracked it...with my elbow...my arm is fine...the only damage was to the window...(at least we know the best place to get it fixed now)
We got the boat stopped and anchored and started fishing. Pretty quick, I caught a 26 1/2 inch redfish! It was a really fun fight! This thing was big!
So we thought it was going to be a great day for fishing and we'd limit out quick and get back home...but as it turned out, I was just delusional...we fished a few spots but we kept catching Hardhead Catfish...about 40 of them throughout the day. They're kind of fun to reel in, but they don't put up too much of a fight...and they have to be 18" to keep, and of course, the biggest one was about 17".
Sometime between catfish, I caught another sting ray, which I let go...but now that we've eaten some, I won't let another go...because they're really tasty!!
Well, we left a little early (about 3:30) because it was so windy.
And that's the end of our 3 day adventure.
And the next day, we got the windshield fixed...
