Tried a new fishing area today...it's about an hour's drive to the launch...

We caught a few little trout...but I caught my personal best trout! 20 1/2"!
Dale added another species to his list...he caught a Ladyfish...it's not a good eating fish but I read that they're good for bait...didn't do us any good though...
He also hooked something that was strong and fast!
We're thinking it was a big flounder! And if it was, it was huge!
The only other thing we figure it could be is a sting ray...but it wasn't really fighting like one.
Anyway, he got it to the boat but when I tried to net it, it dove under the boat and wrapped around the motor and busted the line...now there's a fish swimming around Marker 47 with a strawberry paddletail lure and about 25 feet of 20lb yellow braided line...somebody's gonna get a bonus!

 Fishing update...

As we were heading back to the docks, we made a quick stop at the bar...no, not that bar...a mud bar!! And by a quick stop, I mean that we were going about 30 mph when we hit it...yep! You know it...that's a quick stop!
I had to get out and push, but not too far.
Gotta love those adventures!
Is it a bad thing that I'm kinda glad that the weather is going to be sucky for the next few days?

Fishing is always fun! We went out this morning a little late...about 9...fished all day and got off the water about 6...long day...no keepers...

But I did catch a new species of sea creature!!
I had caught a little bait fish and I tossed him back out still on the hook, hoping he would attract a big fish...but when I reeled it back in, my little bait fish had caught itself a Blue Crab!! And the crab wasn't about to let go of it's nice fishy meal!
Somehow, the crab had also gotten tangled up in the line...so even if it let go, it wasn't going anywhere.
I did manage to get it untangled, unhooked the fish, and tossed it back in the water with the crab still hanging on to the fish...he had a total death grip on it!!
I hope my little crab friend got his fill before the rest of the scavengers joined in!

We took our buddy, Buck, and another friend, Garth, out in Buck's boat today...nobody got a bite...but it was a fun day anyway...because any day fishing is a good day, right?

We were pretty much done anyway, but when Dale decided to move to another spot, the jack plate (that moves the motor up and down) was stuck all the way up...Now, mind you, we could still maneuver with the motor all the way up...we just didn't have a lot of power, but we were going slow anyway.
When we're fishing, I normally pick one lure and stick with that lure...but today, I think I swapped out lures a dozen times and still couldn't get a bite!! But it wasn't just me...nobody on the boat was doing any good, so I didn't feel bad...
We were going to head over to the Sailboat channel, but the motor started running rough, so we decided to go home and take the boat in to the shop, rather than risk damaging it.
When we got the boat loaded and were back on dry land, we took all of the gear out of the boat and put it in the back of Buck's truck...he has this really cool sliding tray...but when I pushed it in so I could close the tailgate, I heard a "snap!"...uh-oh...I pulled the tray back out and saw that I had snapped Dale's reel off of the rod!!
At least it was one of our reels and not someone else's...I'd have felt REALLY bad!! And luckily, it was a really cheap reel that we had gotten about 8 years ago, so it's definitely earned its keep!
So after we got home, we had to head back to our 2nd home-away-from-home...Tackle Town!!
Dale picked out another reel so we can go out again tomorrow...it's pretty nice...and shiny...and new...I might have to break my reel tomorrow so I can get a new one, too! Lol!
I did buy a few more lures, and some new hooks...Hey, I had to get something, didn't I?

Fun With Insurance Claims...NOT!

Well, I can finally tell the whole story...well, almost the whole story...because it's not done quite yet. This is the saga of the tree ...
